Tyler's very first day of preschool in the purple room in 2006 - it was so hard to say goodbye!
For some reason, this is the only photo i can find of Tyler at school - this is his second year of preschool during the Christmas production!
And, our big, mature Grad! Wow, has he changed even just this year!
Last week you completed preschool, a compilation of three years of fun, learning and growing. In those three years you have changed from a wary toddler, excited to paint and eat goldfish, to a courageous, loving, sensitive boy, who still loves craft time and snack time more than any other part of preschool.
I will never forget your first day of preschool when I dropped you off in the purple room with Mrs. G - I was so sad to leave you, but you went so willingly and excitedly and had the best time. I knew then that you would always do well outside of my care, and you have! I am so proud to call you my son. You are respectful to your teachers, you are a good listener, you are thoughtful to your friends, you try hard and follow directions well and I know you are going to do amazing things next year in kindergarten.
My fondest memories from this year are the times I got to work in your class. Just sitting behind you at circle time and the times you would look back at me and smile - I knew that me being there meant the world to you and every time you smiled and looked my way, my heart melted. This last time I was there, you preferred not to play with your friends because you wanted to be with me and so you hung around reading books and doing small crafts until I was free and could be with you. I am so proud to be your mom.
You are a talented artist, Ty. I can see that in the care you take in completing drawings. I don't know what you will do with it, but I hope you will never give it up! I have loved the drawings of boats and trailers, the whales, the crafts you have done on your own, without help, and I will keep them for you so you can see them when you are older.
I pray that God will love you and lead you, my dearest. That he will carve a straight path for you and that you will always follow him. I promise you, dear boy, that with God beside you, you can do anything! He has made you special, and he has made you for his purposes. I see the way you love people and care for people and I know he is going to use that some day. Dear Lord, thank you for Tyler! Thank you for loving him and protecting him and walk alongside of him through his whole life. May he always know you and love you. Thank you, God, for the blessing of being Ty's mom and leading him in your ways. Amen.
