Sweet Six!

In just a day, on the 30th, Tyler will be SIX!

As I look back at the sweet sweet pictures of my baby boy, my first born, the one who taught me what true unconditional love is, my heart can't help but weep and laugh all at the same time!

I weep because the time has gone so fast - six years that have at times seemed so long, now feel like they have disappeared in a blink of an eye!  No longer are his cheeks chubby or his body stumpy, no longer is he a crazy toddler who laughs non-stop at anything silly and crazy, no longer can I pick him up and swing him through the air or pull him in the wagon as we set out on an adventure to the park...those days are gone.

But, sweeter, more wonderful, special in their own way, days are here!  For even though the chubby cheeks and stumpy legs are gone, replaced long ago by defined features and long legs, the essence of Tyler is the same.

At six, Tyler is a true blessing and joy.  He still loves to laugh at anything crazy and silly and he still can't wait to make any one of us laugh - especially Wyatt and Kayla who think his falling down routine is hysterical - they never stop laughing!  He feeds on laughter, he seeks it, hopes for it, and always knows how to lighten the mood and make us all forget our troubles and smile!

Tyler's heart hasn't changed one bit either!  As a toddler, he was always loving the little girls he played with.  I remember he would let Saige push him in the stroller, he would gently touch Mel on the face, and when he became a big brother, he would do anything to help me with Wyatt.

I remember wondering if all children who had just entered into big brotherhood were as helpful and willing as he was.  I know now, that Tyler is special in that way.  He seeks to love people through doing for them.  His love language is acts of service.  There isn't a day that passes that he doesn't draw me a picture to tell me he loves me, or do something I didn't ask him to do to make me smile, or offer to take care of his siblings because he just wants to be with them.  He intently teaches Wyatt new things, he helps him clean his room when Wyatt just can't do it by himself, he gently cares for Kayla and is patient with her when she tears down something he has been working on for hours.  He has a heart for people, a heart for their hearts and he seeks to show his love in intent, one-on-one ways.

At six, we see his creativity emerging - he is an amazing artist who has a knack for details!  His favorite things to draw are monster trucks, mac trucks, horses, dinosaurs and airplanes (typical boy stuff)....but he is also very good at drawing mommy - and I have to say I love how he draws me - always with a big billowing princess dress with puffy sleeves and long locks that curve out and always with a smile!  His love for legos and building is astonishing - he can spend hours constructing different kinds of trucks.  Maybe one day he will be an architect?

Tyler, you are our jewel.  My heart is devoted to loving you unconditionally forever.  There are times when yes, you push my buttons, but I could not love you more, my dear boy.

I pray that you will never stop loving people, that you will stay sweet and protective over your siblings, that your love for art will continue, and that you will follow and seek after God with a passion that is never ending.  God is going to do mighty things with your loving heart and I can't wait to see how he molds you into the amazing person you are going to be.  I love you, my dearest, and i know without a doubt that your Father in Heaven is smiling down on the person you are today.  May God always be with you and may your love for him be the greatest joy in your life!

Happy 6th Birthday my LOVE!
