Creating

Today I reflect on the fact that God made us in His Image and in doing that, he made us into people who long to create in some shape or form.  I watch my boys build with legos and I see that inner desire to create.  Our Father, who created the Heavens and the Earth, the animals and plants, us and everything that exists, instilled in each one of us that same need to build, construct, create with our hands!

So, it comes as no surprise to me when I find complete delight in creating something from scratch with my hands.  And I can relate to God's feeling of goodness when he looked upon all he created and said, "It is Good."

Last night I finished my latest creation, a sweet tank sweater for Kayla, and all I could think was, It Is Good.  I felt such delight in completing it, such pride in the work I had accomplished and such gratitude that God gave me the desire to create and the ability to do things that fulfill that deep desire within me.  Here it is (it took me a year to do it since I put it down for 10 months)....

We all have different gifts and different needs and each of us finds joy in creating in different ways - whether it is through a good meal, in building something, in creating an orderly environment through cleaning, or through crafts or photos....but no matter how we create, when we do so, we identify with that precious identity that comes from our Father, an identity to be a creator and to be filled with joy when we do create.

And I can't tell you how much joy I felt when I showed my precious daughter this morning and she said, "Nice Dress" and she couldn't wait to put it on!  And when she did, she dawned the biggest smile!  So it is with pure delight that I create and especially for someone who is so grateful!
