We must go...

This song's words tug at my heart today - this is a song by Tim Huges and it is called God of Justice.

God of Justice, Saviour to all
Came to rescue the weak and the poor
Chose to serve and not be served

Jesus, You have called us
Freely we've received
Now freely we will give

We must go live to feed the hungry
Stand beside the broken
We must go
Stepping forward keep us from just singing
Move us into action
We must go

To act justly everyday
Loving mercy in everyway
Walking humbly before You God

You have shown us, what You require
Freely we've received
Now freely we will give

Fill us up and send us out
Fill us up and send us out
Fill us up and send us out Lord

On Saturday, we will go as a family to serve the homeless in San Francisco.  Our prayer is that God will break our hearts for the people around us, the homeless, the broken, those in need.  We pray that our desire to serve would not just be word focused but heart driven.

This morning Tyler was in a funk and said he didn't want to go on Saturday - he said it was weird.  I don't believe that he really thinks this, but this is what the world tells him.  The world says its ok for us to enjoy all that we have and not share with those that don't have.  And I have to admit, it is easy to take what I have, what God gives me, and keep it for myself.  It is easy to believe that I deserve to rest, to enjoy my house for myself, to keep my money for us because times are tough and we need to survive, to reserve my Saturday for family time because we don't get enough time together just to have fun.

But God says, go, love my people, all of them, every moment, go.  And when you do so, you love me.

I pray that God will create a heart within us that breaks for those around us.  That we would seek to be more like Jesus, sharing all of the blessings we have with anyone who needs to be blessed.  I don't believe that God has given to me for my own enjoyment alone.  He has blessed us to be a blessing and so I pray that as Andrew and I learn to do that in our own hearts, we can create that spirit of sharing/giving in our own children.

Fill us up, Father, so we can live to be a blessing!  Open our eyes so we see your people and love your people the way you do.  We love you.

A man + a woman + two boys + a girl + a dog + a cat = The Eakin 7 - That's us.  In a crazy world, we are a family focused on God, each other, family, friends and community.

We strive to love each other in the best way we can, every day, and to love God even more.  We hope you will find a place here to connect into our lives and where you can find a piece of our love for each other!  Thanks for hanging out with us!
